Every year in the Carson Valley there is a summertime
parade and carnival. The tradition is said to have originated with the Dangberg
family's aspiration to promote the town of Minden which they founded on their own
land after persuading the V&T Railroad to terminate there, just shy of Gardnerville,
in exchange for the right of way from Carson City. Today the parade runs the opposite
direction from Minden to Gardnerville to end at the county park that hosts the carnival.
This year's was the 98th annual Carson Valley Days. The event is a unique opportunity
for so many people of the commercial Nevada society that are rarely found in a public
forum outside their cars to hear the gospel unadulterated by the machinations of
religious enterprise. We made known the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
by the eyewitness of his majesty that works in us by his resurrection from the dead.

Ben has published an article
today about the experience of Mamre's first few months and his
reflection on God's mercy. This article shares our experience in
perinatal and neonatal medicine for those who are facing similar
circumstances as well as valuable wisdom from God's word for anyone who
will hear.

Mamre Maulis came home with us from the hospital today. We have been
occupied with visiting and caring for him at the hospital in Reno for
three months now, and it is a great joy to have him come home.

We were able to get out to the annual lights parade this evening and
preach the good news of Jesus Christ to the crowds assembled on
Esmeralda street in Minden, Nevada to see the parade. We launched this
public ministry at this event last year and did not want to miss it.
Ben, Mai, and Micaiah all attended, and we were joined by Mai's sister
Amy who is visiting us from Canada. We were able to preach the gospel
to the crowd before the parade arrived and we passed out a hundred
copies of "The Greatest Story Ever Told."

Ben preached across the street from the casino in Gardnerville. About
three or four dealers or pit bosses, or slot attendants opened the side
door to hear his sermon a little better. I told them straight the way
of salvation,
that Jesus is come in the flesh and bore our iniquities, that he was
crucified and that he rose from the dead. I preached that all who call
upon his name will be saved, and that if they repent and believe on the
Lord Jesus they will have eternal life.
I blew the trumpet and then said, Will the trumpet be blown in the
city and the people be not afraid? I said that I must warn them, yeah
that I would sin against God if I did not warn them of the wrath to
come, because God has appointed a day in the which
he will judge the world in righteousness. I warned them to turn away
from their sin, to stop transgressing Gods commandments, to repent and
turn toward God with faith in Jesus Christ because Jesus came into the
world to save sinners. He did not come to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance, because the Lord is not willing that any perish.
As I live, saith the Lord,
I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Why will ye die? Turn
ye, turn ye

We preached at the Elks carnival at Lampe Park on Friday. The carnival
was quite a bit lower key than the one of Carson Valley Days last
month. We went in the early evening when it had cooled down. We were
able to address the entire carnival by standing in the center of the
grassy area where it was setup. We used a loud voice and delivered the
gospel that Christ was risen from the dead and that he was calling all
men everywhere to repent. Once we had preached, because the entire
carnival had heard us, we held our peace and waited for a few minutes
before going. Among the crowd were at least two Sheriff's deputies. Our
preaching did not appear to provoke a reaction from them. We
appreciated how they had also enforced the law throughout Carson Valley
Days.
On the Sabbath day, Ben returned to the Park, intending to go to the carnival, but as he prayed the Holy Ghost led him to preach to the young people at the Herbig skate park instead. The Holy Ghost gave him a message too.
I preached that the Lord commands us to be holy because he is holy. I knew that there were kids that did not know what it means to be holy, so I preached the law from the story of the young man who approached Christ and asked him what must he do to have eternal life (from Mark 10). I read the commandments from the gospel account. Then I said I was going to read them again and asked everyone at the skatepark, "Are you holy?" The young man in the gospel account answered that he had kept those commandments. I explained Christ's answer to the young man that he still lacked one thing. Then I shared the account of another man who wrote that concerning the law he was blameless, but that he counted those things which were gain unto him as loss for the sake of that one thing. (Philipians 3:6-8) I preached that everyone ought to repent, and I preached the gospel of Christ's rising from the dead and invited everyone to confess with their mouth and believe in their heart.

The preaching continues here in the Carson Valley. Ben was out on July
21st, and the whole Maulis family was on the street July 22nd to preach
aloud the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. The best
video came from Sunday thanks to Mai. A few clips are on the video tab.

WE preached Jesus on the Sabbath day and again on the Lord's day, in
two different locations along Highway 395 in the town of Gardnerville.
On Saturday, Ben went out by himself, still under the threat of arrest
from the Douglas County Sheriff's deputy who accosted him the previous
weekend. He was confronted again by a Sheriff's deputy. The deputy
acknowledge the lawfulness of preaching and playing the trumpet on the
street and we continue to do both. Ben has written some things
concerning these encounters which have been turned into an article found on the articles tab.
The next day, Ben, Mai, and Micaiah were all on the highway preaching the gospel to everyone. Videos are available from both days on the video tab. We are currently using Youtube to host the videos for two reasons: The videos have been watched at Youtube more than 1000 times (17 videos combined) by people who would not have found maulis.com, and Youtube hosts the videos at no cost, providing progressive download with higher available bandwidth than does the current host for maulis.com.

WE preached on Highway 395 in the Nevada town of Gardnerville this
afternoon. A short video clip is available from the video
page. We continued to preach from the same place for some time
until we were interrupted by a Douglas county Sherriff's deputy. At
first he advised Ben that he was breaking the law by preaching, but
later explained that if someone complained, then Bens street preaching
would constitute disorderly conduct and he would arrest Ben. Ben
advised him that his conduct is not disorderly, but that it is ordered
by God and the scriptures.
The deputy proceeded to tell us that he was not harassing us, and that he himself was religious. He wanted to know what we were. Ben advised him that we are called Christians. He claimed to be LDS and wanted to know what kind of Christians we were. Ben responded that Christ is not divided (1 Cor. 3:3). The deputy asked him if he didnt think there was a better way to do this (share the gospel). He responded, "No. I am following the example of the Lord Jesus Christ himself." He is the way, and there is no better way.
After we showed identification in response to the deputy's claim of authority to require us to do so under a Nevada state law that was upheld by the Supreme Court's decision in Hiibel versus Nevada, the deputy ran a warrant check and went away. We continued to preach under the threat of arrest as a result of a complaint because our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the prison, and he will deliver us out of the hand of our oppressors. But if not, be it known that we will still preach Christ Jesus.

OVER the last four days, we ministered the gospel publicly in the
Carson Valley to many people attending the Carson Valley Days festival.
The four day festival included a carnival, parade, concert, and other
activities centered around the towns of Minden and Gardnerville, and
especially Douglas county's Lampe Park. Through open air preaching,
banners, tracts and witnessing in the power of the Holy Ghost, we have
made known the supremecy and the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ by the
eyewitness of his majesty that works in us by his resurrection from the
dead. We have published some photos from the parade and carnival in the

ON April 15, we celebrated our 1st year Anniversary. Our first year
has truly been marked by much fortune and blessing.
San
Jose, April 8, 2007
BEN, Mai, and Micaiah traveled to Elk Grove and San Jose, California to
visit family and the church in San Jose. This was the first time
Micaiah had been to San Jose. He is a very good traveler and enjoyed
meeting many people new to him. On April 7th, we had an opportunity to
preach the gospel on Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose, between
Santana Row and Valley Fair. There is a short video clip of this in
the video gallery. VIDEO We also celebrated the
resurrection of our Lord, who is our Passover, with the church in San
Jose at Oasis of Living Waters.
We are committed to continue preaching the gospel publicly, and to testifying that Jesus is the only way of salvation. We also invite you to join us in proclaiming Gods word.
Whether we are in Gardnerville, or Minden, the Gardnerville Ranchos, Genoa, or the Johnson Lane neighborhood, we declare the great joy in being reconciled to God and in having peace with God through Jesus Christ. But there is no peace to the wicked and all nations that forget God shall be turned into hell. Nevadas Carson Valley is no exception. But if we hearken unto his word, we will see that the Lord has made a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
